Three-star offensive tackle Jack “JJ” Hirdes from Coopersville, Michigan, flipped his commitment to the Illini on Monday, he announced on social media. The former Western Michigan commit is the No. 72 offensive tackle prospect in the Class of 2025 and the No. 19 prospect in Michigan.
Hirdes is the third offensive line commit in Illinois’ 2025 class and the fourth commitment flip Illinois has secured this recruiting period. His commitment comes less than a month after Illinois offered him on Oct. 8.
The Coopersville Broncos are dominating offensively behind Hirdes. They’ve averaged 6.9 yards per carry and 395 yards per game as they prepare for their Division III district final against Forest Hills Central.
The Illini, meanwhile, sit at 6-3 and will enter the 2025 season with all but one offensive line starter returning. Hirdes’ addition strengthens Illinois’ offensive line and adds depth as the Illini look toward a promising 2025 season.
