    UGL to host voter registration

Champaign County Clerk Gordy Hulten is working with the University’s Undergraduate Library to sponsor a more convenient voter registration.

The County Clerk’s office will partner with the UGL to host a registration drive at the library from Sept. 16 to 20 between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the first floor.

According to Hulten, the Champaign County Clerk’s office partners with student organizations and University administration to hold voter registration on campus. Hulten said it is important for students to be able to register on campus because they move around more often than Champaign citizens.

In order to register in person, students must be 18 years or older, need to fill out a registration form and provide two forms of identification – one must show a permanent address. Voter registration is currently open, but is closed 28 days prior to every election and three days after the close of each election.
