Here’s the inside scoop: Jarling’s Custard Cup has creamed its competition three years in a row. And it doesn’t appear to be chilling out anytime soon.
For over 40 years, the prized Champaign-Urbana establishment has been home to the coldest ice cream in the coolest university town. Flavors range from vanilla and chocolate to fruity-filled fun with strawberry and lemon. Or maybe it wasn’t “mint to be,” and you can instead opt for the Flavor of the Week.
Jarling’s also offers a flood of frozen treats. Whether you’re in the mood for a cone, snowstorm or sundae, this shop has got you covered. To top it off, if you’re ever in need of a hearty beverage, look no further than its milkshakes, freezes and old-fashioned sodas.
It truly can’t get much better than this, and turns out, it doesn’t have to! Best of CU voters know what they like, what they don’t and which ice cream shop wins their “flavor-ite.”
Never visited? Find it at 309 W. Kirby Ave. Once you pull into the parking lot, you’ll likely think to yourself: “SCOOP, there it is!”
