On Feb. 24, the Jonas Brothers released their single “Wings.” This is the first song the group has released together since 2021.

On Feb. 24, the Jonas Brothers released their new single, “Wings,” their first release since 2021. They also announced a new album, “The Album,” releasing this May.

“Wings” is a poppy song with vocals by Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas and Jon Bellion, who also helped produce the track. Soft synth, bass and percussion make up the instrumental.

The track is only one minute and 58 seconds and the first and second verses are the same lyrically.

The verses start with good energy and the pre-chorus builds well, but the chorus, typically the most energetic part of pop songs, is significantly lower-energy with much of the instrumental stripped back and a simple vocal melody.

The bridge is probably the best part of the track, with Nick’s voice at the end of the bridge sounding like Harry Styles’ vocal riffs.

By the final chorus, the song then fades out with techno vibes and heavily filtered vocals.

In an interview with Variety, the three brothers discussed their favorite tracks on the album. Joe Jonas said “Wings” was his favorite.

“It might be the shortest song on the album, but I like it because it feels like a trailer to the rest of the body work,” Joe Jonas said.

After breaking up due to creative differences in 2013, the Jonas Brothers parted ways and began solo careers. After the split, Nick and Joe Jonas stayed in the music industry while Kevin Jonas got into the contracting business.

However, years later, rumors began to spread about the band getting back together.

On Feb. 28, 2019, fans’ dreams came true. After six years of silence, the Jonas Brothers released a brand new single, “Sucker.” Soon after that, they released an album titled “Happiness Begins.” Since then, they’ve been reliving their early 2000s days by touring and making music.

Two years passed before their release of another single, titled “Leave Before You Love Me,” with Marshmallow in 2021.

On Feb. 9, the Jonas Brothers announced their new single. Soon after that, the band began posting small snippets of their music onto social media.

Later that week, the band posted a sneak peek look into the “Wings” music video on their social media. Actress and Jonas Brothers superfan Haley Lu Richardson appeared in the video.

On an Instagram post of a clip of the video Richardson wrote, “This was the most surreal day of my entire existence. I’m so thankful.”

The music video opens up into a hotel room with four girls, Richardson included. The girls are dancing around the room and seem to be getting ready for something.

During the bridge of the song, the girls dance with cardboard cutouts of the Jonas Brothers. Then, as they are talking while waiting for an elevator, the doors open and reveal the Jonas Brothers.

Nick asks if they’re going up in the elevator, but the girls stare at the brothers in utter shock. The elevator then closes, and the girls scream as the screen freezes and fades to black.

“Wings” is a representation of a new chapter for the Jonas Brothers. They announced a five-day residency in New York at the Marquis Theatre from March 14-18. Each night of the residency will be focused on one of their albums in release order. They will start with their self-titled album and end with their new release, “The Album.”
