The Daily Illini COVID-19 updates for April 15

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District announced one new case of the coronavirus in Champaign County on Wednesday, along with two additional deaths.

The dead are a man and woman in their 80s. Both had underlying health conditions.

Of the 90 people who tested have positive for the coronavirus in Champaign County, 31 have active cases, 55 have recovered and four have died. Five people with active cases are currently hospitalized, down from 10 on Tuesday.

Twenty-two residents and one staff member from the Symphony of Joliet nursing home have died from COVID-19, said a facility spokeswoman.

Researchers at Rutgers University have developed a FDA-approved saliva test for the coronavirus.

Chicago: 10,192 cases (+576); 361 deaths (+33)

Champaign County: 90 cases (+1); four deaths (+2); 55 recoveries with 1,638 tested
