By Ethan Simmons, News Editor

In a Massmail on Wednesday, Chancellor Robert Jones said the University plans to announce whether fall semester will have in-person instruction sometime in mid-June. Jones said the same to a group of alumni in a virtual town hall on Friday.

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District announced nine more cases of the coronavirus in Champaign County on Wednesday, pushing the countywide total to 217 cases.

Of the 217 cases, 95 are active, 119 have recovered and six have died. Six people with active cases are currently hospitalized. Fewer than 5% of Champaign County’s 2,869 tests have proved positive.

County health officials recommend anyone with symptoms — fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, fatigue and loss of taste or smell — to get tested.

Confirmed cases of coronavirus as of May 4, 11 p.m. CDT
