Champaign

  • A 22-year-old man reported burglary from his motor vehicle at the 500 block of West White Street on June 14.

According to a police report, an unknown subject burglarized the man’s vehicle, taking an in-dash CD player and face plate. The subject also damaged the glove box latch.

No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

  • A 54-year-old woman reported burglary from her motor vehicle at the 00 block of Fourth Street Tuesday morning.

According to a police report, a computer, sample packs of medication, two library books and a laptop and its case were stolen from the woman’s vehicle while it was parked on the street at the corner of Fourth and Green streets.

No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

  • A 30-year-old man was arrested for burglary at the 2400 block of North Prospect Avenue Tuesday night.

According to a police report, the offender enter Meijer and concealed a CD player, R. Kelly and Michael Jackson CDs, headphones, batteries and a fountain drink and left the store without paying.

  • A 26-year-old woman reported criminal damage to her property on the 500 block of West Green Street on June 13.

According to a police report, an unknown subject damaged the front and rear wipers and broke the antennae on the vehicle.

No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

  • A 61-year-old woman reported residential burglary on the 300 block of South Second Street Sunday morning.

According to a police report, an unknown suspect entered the woman’s apartment and stole five rings and a bag of gold teeth.

No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

  • A 47-year-old man was arrested for possession of alcohol on public property on Monday night.

According to a police report, the man was observed drinking alcohol on a public sidewalk on the corner of Sixth and Green streets and was issued a notice to appear.

No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

University

  • A resident at Orchard Downs reported a prowler at the 1900 block of South Orchard Street on Wednesday night.

According to a police report, the resident heard someone walking around outside near his bedroom window and went to investigate. The resident said he saw a subject walking away from the building and followed him. The subject proceeded to look into the windows of at least three other buildings before he appeared to realize that the resident was following him and quickly left.

No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

  • A suspicious person was reported on campus on Tuesday.

In the morning, staff members at the Coordinated Science Laboratory, 1308 W. Main St., reported a suspicious person looking into offices.

Over the following hour, similar reports were received from staff members at the Materials Research Laboratory, 104 S. Goodwin Ave., and Davenport Hall, 607 S. Mathews Ave. At about 1 p.m. a 34-year-old Des Moines, Iowa man – who matched the description of the subject – was seen going into Follett’s Bookstore, 627 S. Wright St.

Police questioned the man and confiscated two textbooks that he had sold to the store along with the $42 he had received for them.

The man, who was not arrested, was told he could claim the books in a week if the books were not reported stolen.
