All roads lead to Green

By Janice McDufee

Green Street is the center of campus life, with a stretch of businesses catering to students’ every need. People in Campustown are drawn to Green Street, making it one of, if not the busiest, few blocks in the area.

Traveling down the street, one will encounter many perusing through the restaurants, convenience stores or shopping. As a new student, you are destined to frequent Green Street for one reason or another.

Before this year, women’s shopping needs were covered by only one women’s clothing store on Green Street, Paris Boutique. With the opening of Pitaya and Exhibit, women now have their pick of where to find clothes and accessories.

Jennifer Weizeorick, junior in FAA, explained the draw to Green Street as one of convenience.

“It has everything, like if you need to go to Walgreens and get something,” she said, “And then all the bars are there, so you can just go there to hang out.”

Although there are numerous other services offered, such as a locksmith, fitness center, even tattoo parlors, the restaurant and bar scenes dominate this street. Indian, Mandarin, Italian, Korean, Greek, whatever international preference you may have for your food is very likely represented. And as Weizeorick said, all of the campus bars are on or within one or two blocks of Green Street as well, making it the hub of campus night life.
