NEW YORK – A rare original edition of J.K. Rowling’s latest book is going on display at the New York Public Library, just as the work is being published around the world.

“The Tales of Beedle the Bard” is a collection of five stories that’s mentioned in the last book in Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series. It’s being published on Thursday.

Rowling originally wrote and illustrated seven copies of the book as gifts. She gave one to Arthur Levine at Scholastic, which published the American versions of the books. It’s Levine’s copy that will be on display at the library from Thursday until Jan. 4.
