Zeds Dead is expected to take the stage at Canopy Club with a display of lights large enough to captivate an audience.

The electronic music duo made up of Zachary Rapp-Rovan, also known as Hooks, and Dylan Mamid, also known as DC, will perform two shows at 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Zeds Dead will be previewing music off their album, “Northern Lights,” set to debut October 14.

Billi Jo Hart, Marketing Manager for Canopy Club, said hosting an artist such as Zeds Dead takes big preparation.

“We make sure there is plenty of free water available throughout the entire night for patrons, and we have a patio area where people can go to cool off if they’re dancing too much,” Hart said.

Hart said these shows also require a lot more production staff to focus on things such as lighting, sound and stage crews from the morning of until show time.

Zeds Dead was originally set to only play one show on Oct. 10. However, within days of ticket sales being released, the show was sold out.

“The first show sold out really quickly, and there were a lot of people who were incredibly disappointed that they wouldn’t have the chance to see Zeds Dead perform at the Canopy,” Hart said.

Hart, along with other Canopy Club management, decided to push for a second date. Now, the duo will also perform a second set on Oct. 11. Illenium and Hunter Siegel will be the opening acts for both days.

According to the event page on the Canopy Club website, Zeds Dead is known for their “exploration of a diverse mix of genres” and that this blend “creates a mystical, smooth and catchy sound.”

Tyler Allen, sophomore at Parkland College, said his dream of becoming a filmmaker is what attracts him to electronic dance music (EDM) shows.

“The first time I heard of Zeds Dead was a couple years ago. I feel like they’ve always had a big name in the electronic music scene,” Allen said.

Allen said he considers himself a big fan. He will be attending both of Zeds Dead’s shows.

Allen said that after hearing how quickly the first show sold out, he knew he would not be disappointed by a second performance.

“A few reasons why I’m going to both is because we usually don’t book that big of a talent here — especially not two nights in a row,” Allen said. “They always seem to be headlining at big music festivals.”

Damian Margarites, sophomore in LAS, said he is excited to attend Monday’s show.

Margarites said he would not call himself a die-hard fan; however, he often listens to their music and is looking forward to seeing Zeds Dead for the first time.

“I have a feeling, however, that after seeing Zeds Dead live I’ll be a bigger fan,” Margarites said.
