Champaign County Chamber of Commerce recognizes company, citizens

The Champaign County Chamber of Commerce recognized its 2010 Small Business of the Year, HL Precision Machining, Inc., and its Most Valuable Citizens, George and Marge Sodemann, award recipients Friday. The Champaign County Chamber of Commerce made this announcement at the Chamber Annual Meeting at the the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign.

Santella, Dimke qualify for special awards

Illinois senior punter Anthony Santella and junior Derek Dimke received award recognitions Friday. Santella was one of 51 candidates for the 2010 Ray Guy Award, and Dimke was named one of 20 semifinalists for the 2010 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by Discover Orange Bowl.

Champaign’s blustery day Tuesday laid waste to homes, power lines, windows and more as gusts of wind reached 45 to 46 miles per hour. A high wind warning was in effect for Champaign County until 7 p.m. Tuesday night. According to the National Weather Service, strong winds that started at 25 to 35 miles per hour before reaching even strongest gust speeds ripped through the county throughout the day.
