Champaign City Council convened Tuesday night to discuss a number of resolutions including one concerning an intergovernmental agreement with the University.

The University has given money to non-profit groups in the Champaign-Urbana area, including the Champaign County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation and 40 North/88West, Inc. for some time now.

With climate change still a hot-button issue, the environmental activists at 350.org are hoping that by staging worldwide events on Oct. 10, world leaders will see that the issue needs resolving.

CU Citizens for Peace and Justice will be dedicating their 7th annual Unity March on Oct. 9 to Kiwane Carrington. Carrington was a 15-year-old boy who was killed in 2009 during an altercation with Champaign police.
