University remembers attacks

By Dan Shah

The University’s School of Music hosted an event Sunday morning to commemorate the events of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks at Smith Memorial Hall.

Three members of the jazz faculty played a 17-minute rendition of Amazing Grace titled “Improvisations on Amazing Grace.”

The remembrance began at 7:46 a.m. and lasted till 8:03 a.m, marking the times that the towers were struck by the jetliners.

The music was followed by a minute of silence to reflect on the fourth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the U.S.

“There will be no speeches – just a time for reflection and solemnity,” School of Music Director Karl Kramer said in a press release Friday.
