Thousands of students have already gathered on the Quad for this year’s Quad Day festivities.

Over 600 registered student organizations have set up booths, demonstrations and impromptu performances in an effort to get students interested.

Local political candidates are also taking advantage of the chance to meet the students. Judy Myers, Republican candidate for Illinois Senate District 52, was seen shaking hands and talking with students.

“It starts now,” Myers said when asked when the heavy campaign season begins.

Quad Day runs until 3 P.M. this afternoon.
