Door to Door Salesmen
August 30, 2006
University Hall residents may now have to lock their room doors more carefully.
A salesman has been discovered going door-to-door inside Snyder Residence Hall. Solicitation of any kind is not allowed in residence halls and the salesman was asked to leave. Assistant Director of Housing for Marketing Kirsten Ruby says students should have the same type of security as they would at home.
This is really a cant to walking into someone’s house and knocking on their bedroom door, more than the front door of their house. The front door of the hall is the front door to these students’ rooms. And then their rooms really are their rooms. So we don’t want strangers walking in the halls knocking on doors, even if it’s for something that’s completely legal.”
Resident Directors of other halls were notified of the salesman and took safety precautions.
Ruby says that students should be aware of their surroundings, neighbors and question strangers in their halls.
