UI President rallies faculty support for “Global Campus”

University President B. Joseph White is urging the U of I faculty to support his plan of a “Global Campus.” President White addressed the faculty earlier today in the annual faculty meeting, meant to encourage discussion between professors and administration. President White says he wants the U of I to be a leader in online curriculum.

“Creation of the Global Campus is a logical next step in the U of I story. I think the future of higher education for all students will be a rich mix of in-person and online learning”

The idea of a Global Campus was discussed at Thursday’s Board of Trustees Meeting – it would essentially create a fourth campus for the U of I – with the internet as its homebase. President White and Chancellor Richard Herman also both took time to thank the faculty for their dedication to the U of I.
