ON-AIR: Transfer students welcome at UI

By Kirstin Skurka

Students who wish to transfer to the U of I may find easier acceptance into the Champaign Campus. Vice Provost for strategic planning Ruth Watkins says applicants won’t just be evaluated on high school test scores.

“Many students do very well in community college environments, and what a student is evaluated on at that point is their academic record, so we’re able to look at their actual college performance”

The U of I’s strategic plan, which takes effect in November, will take more action to market their campus to transfer-school applicants. The school also hopes to become more competitive with other state institutions.
