Oftentimes, the critical link is to have a College of Medicine. It doesn’t change, necessarily, who’s doing the research but it helps to make that connection stronger and tighter.

Jahne says the College has made phenomenal progress since it first opened in 1971, including its signature “medical scholars” program, which ranks among the top 3 in the nation. The program allows students to receive their medical degree alongside a Ph. D in another field of their choosing. Jahne says this is yet another example of how the College of Medicine helps its students branch out into other fields of study.

…And it helps to bring a richness to the College of Medicine, but also to their own discipline that they bring the perspective of human health back to their own discipline.

University Chancellor Richard Herman will speak on Saturday at the College’s “Celebrating Our Past, Unlocking Our Future” program on continuing medical education. The College will be holding various festivities for its 35th Anniversary this weekend.
