The University of Illinois is requesting a proposal that would essentially allow I-Cards to be used like debit cards. In addition to the current uses a student could potentially use their I-Cards to buy food. The plan would link the I card to a bank or credit-union managed account. This proposal would encompass all 3 UI campuses, totaling over 70,000 students. UI will seek approval by the Board of Trustees around January 2007.
