MTD cancels service after 7 p.m.

The weather is proving to be too much for Champaign-Urbana buses. The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District is working hard to keep their buses from getting stuck in the snow, said Robert Patton, MTD spokesman.

“If we get a bus that’s stuck, we try to figure out how to get it out,” he said. “We’ve got extra equipment out and we’re trying to maintain service.”

Patton said, however, that all CU-MTD bus lines will likely shut down for the evening.

“The way things are going, the storm’s not letting up and we’re not sure we can keep going,” he said.

Bus service will end today at 7 p.m. with no evening or late night bus service. According to a press release, CU-MTD intends to operate on schedule tomorrow.
