The University Board of Trustees are meeting today, 140 years and a day after their original meeting.

Much of the morning’s content concerned the ratification of a Feb. 16 decision, retiring the Chief. Click here to read the full article concerning the Chief’s retirement.

A handful of speakers addressed the Board, with voices from both sides of the Chief debate present. Other speakers addressed the University’s contract with the Coca-Cola company, UIUC’s farmland policy, and also the adverse effects instructional budget cutting.

The agenda for the afternoon includes the appointment of a new dean in the College of Fine and Applied Arts, the founding of a new school within LAS, and increases in student, health insurance, and housing fees on campus. An additional library technology fee will be proposed as well.
