A 30-year-old Champaign man was arrested Saturday for allegedly shooting a 20-year-old Urbana man at the 1200 block of West Beslin Street Wednesday afternoon.

The incident, which stemmed from a fight between the men, occurred across the street from King School, 1108 W. Fairview Ave., Urbana, but, according to a press release from the Urbana Police Department, no children were harmed and the school was not involved.

Tony Deshawn Mann was arrested on charges of attempted first degree murder early Saturday evening by the Urbana Police Department with the aid of U.S. Marshalls. He was arraigned in court Monday and is due to appear for pre-trial on June 12. Bond had been set at $500,000.

The 20-year-old victim has since been released from the hospital.

According to Champaign County court records, Mann is currently on probation for criminal damage to property and will be in court on Aug. 3 for a status hearing related to a charge of domestic battery.
