Bottenfield Elementary Celebrates African History Month

By Melissa Chua

The Bottenfield Elementary School celebrated their wrap-up to the African American History month Thursday.

The celebration bore the theme, “The Music of Our Soul,” and featured African American history presentations, musical performances, and guest speakers.

The Bottenfield Elementary student council planned presentations on notable African Americans, and some students taught the audience soulful gospel songs.

Kevin Burt, a professional musician, performed a couple numbers on the guitar during the evening.

Planning for this year’s celebration night began in December. Bottenfield Elementary’s past celebration themes include “It takes a village,” “Hopes and dreams,” and “Personal Power.”
