Woman disarmed at University of Louisville health center

By Brett Barrouquere

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville police have disarmed a woman carrying a gun at a campus health services building.

University spokeswoman Cindy Hess says no one was hurt during Thursday’s brief hostage situation.

But city police say the campus officers turned up information that led to the discovery of the bodies of two children at an off-campus home.

Officer Phil Russell of the city police department says the request from campus police came after they disarmed the woman.

A safety alert posted on the school’s Web site described the armed person as a student. But Hess says she can’t confirm that.
