Champaign finds new fire chief

The city of Champaign has found its new fire chief in a familiar face.

Douglas P. Forsman will return as the city’s fire chief after leaving the city in 1992.

After leaving the city of Champaign, Forsman served as director for various fire service programs at Oklahoma State University in. Most recently, he served as fire chief and chief administrative officer for the Union Colony Fire/Rescue Authority in Greeley, Colorado.

“I am pleased Doug has agreed to return to Champaign,” said City Manager Steve Carter in the press release. “He provides a stellar track record of demonstrated success in his nearly 44 years of managing fire departments and trining institutions.”

Forsman will return to the post on August 6, which was left vacated after David Pennicook retired in Decmber 2007.
