Fans, media prepare for 2008 football season

After the 2007 Illini football season, the 2008 season is already receiving strong attention from fans and media.

According to a press release, as of Tuesday July 1, over 6,000 tickets were already sold. There are 10,000 tickets available for the 2008 season.

Tickets for Block I, the student section, sold out in early June.

The first two Illini home games, to be played at the newly renovated Memorial Stadium, will be televised on the Big Ten Network. Illinois’ first home game is set for Sep. 6 against Eastern Illinois University.

Other scheduled games include Homecoming on Oct. 11 against Minnesota and Dad’s day Nov. 1 against Iowa.

“It is great to see the excitement continue to grow among our students as the season gets closer,” said Assistant Athletic Director for Sales and Marketing Chris Hanna in a press release.
