CCC set to discuss city’s redesigned Web site

By Eric Heisig

The Champaign City Council will be looking at the new design for the city’s Web site during its study session Tuesday night.

The new site will be unveiled to the Council before it goes to the public, so it may comment and critique it as they feel necessary.

The layout of the Web site has been changed as well to be more aesthetically pleasing and easily accessible to the public. It will include features such as a Google search bar to help search through the site and pertaining documents for important information, and Really Simple Syndication, or RSS feeds, which will alert users when any new information in an area is posted and can be accessed from computers and other devices with Internet capabilities

According to the city of Champaign, the city’s first Web site appeared in 1999, and was redesigned again in 2004. Pending approval from the Council and possibly input from the public, the new site will go live sometime in the near future.

Champaign City Council meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the City Building.
