By Mark Rivera

A 22-year-old University student was robbed at the MTD bus shelter on the corner of Green and Wright Streets Saturday morning at around 1:36 a.m.

The victim was walking home from Brothers Bar and Grill early Saturday morning. He crossed Wright Street and was walking past the bus shelter in front of Everett Lab. As he was walking, a man jumped out of the bushes with a knife in his hand.

Lt. Tony Brown of the University Police Department said the attacker was a 5 foot, 8 inch man who stated that he was armed with a 3- to 4-inch folding style blade. The attacker was wearing a black ski mask, black gloves, dark baggy pants and a black hooded sweatshirt.

According to the victim, the man said “Give me all your cash,” and after the victim complied, the man ran away quickly.

All the offender received was about $22 cash.

“I’m happy he just asked for cash,” the victim said. He was relieved to be able to keep his wallet and all of his identification cards.

The victim said he is physically fine, if a bit shaken up.

No arrests have been made.

“I guess I’ll move on,” he said. However, he mentioned that he would now be more aware when walking home at night.
