By Mark Rivera

The BankChampaign, 5 Convenience Center Drive, was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money on Tuesday.

According to a press release from the Champaign Police Department, at approximately 1:37 p.m., a 6-foot, 300-pound white male wearing a dark colored short-sleeved shirt, fake long blonde hair and a grey beard entered the bank and demanded money from a teller in a written note.

The man was suspected to be armed, but no weapon was seen by witnesses.

Police said the man carried a black bag and sported a large, possibly fake, tribal design tattoo on his left arm. The suspect may have fled the scene in a white van or sports utility vehicle.

According to police, no injuries were reported and no customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery.
