UI Police release report on locker room camera case

By Mark Rivera

University police said today that a preliminary report was sent to the Champaign County State’s Attorney regarding a camera found in a private locker room on campus.

However, police did not release names of individuals involved in the investigation.

When asked if former Men’s Gymnastic coach Jon Valdez was involved in the investigation, Lt. Roy Acree of the University Police Department said, “We’re waiting for charging (from the State’s Attorney’s Office) before releasing the name.”

Acree said that the University Police had nearly completed their investigation into the locker room incident.

“We are still in the process of writing some reports,” he said, adding that the report sent this morning was enough for the State’s Attorney to determine whether or not to charge.
