Armed robbery reported on campus Tuesday night

By James VandeBerg

Two Champaign men were arrested last night after a reported armed robbery at Sixth and White streets in Champaign.

Two men reportedly approached a man getting out of his car and going towards his apartment building shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday night. They demanded his wallet, and one man reportedly pulled a knife, said Rene Dunn, Champaign police department assistant to the chief for community services.

A few minutes later, the victim and his friends heard the suspects approaching another person, and went outside to restrain one of the suspects until police could arrive, Dunn said.

Aaron Donaldson, 20, of Champaign, was arrested of charges of armed robbery.

Also arrested was Richard Hensler, 20, also of Champaign, on charges of armed robbery and possession of cocaine.
