Update: President White calls for long-term economic planning

In his opening remarks at Thursday’s Board of Trustee meeting, President B. Joseph White addressed the University of Illinois’ plan for coping with economic difficulties in coming years.

He said University endowments have fallen, and he has asked the chancellors of the three campuses to prepare plans for managing their campuses in light of a struggling economy.

He emphasized that these plans will not jeopardize the quality of education students receive from the University, or limit the courses in which students can enroll.
