Board of Trustees meet to discuss Chicago Olympics

The Board of Trustees met Tuesday afternoon in an emergency meeting to discuss University’s role in Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympic games.

The board approved two agreements in accordance with Chicago’s bid to host the summer games.

The first agreement concerns UIC facilities to be used in the games.

The city’s committee in charge of organizing the Olympic bid, Chicago 2016, has identified at least five UIC facilities to be utilized during the games. The UIC Pavilion, Flames Athletic Center, Physical Education Building, South Field Complex/Flames Field and Student Recreation Facility.

The second agreement is between the board and nine government agencies to guarantee a variety of rules and regulations in accordance with the Olympic games.
