Volunteer Illini Projects helps with National Volunteer Week

By Steve Lesniewski

In honor of National Volunteer Week, Volunteer Illini Projects will be hosting several service opportunities.

On Thursday there will be a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Room 314 at the Illini Union.

“We have a rivalry blood drive with Ohio State,” said Kymberly Ruhmann, chair of Volunteer Illini Projects. “We are going to try and collect more units of blood, in one day, than Ohio State does.”

Also, a “Food For Thought” event will be held at 7 p.m. in 249 Bevier Hall.

“It is supposed to increase knowledge of homelessness and hunger in the Champaign-Urbana community,” Ruhmann said. “If you bring food or clothing that will be donated to the local homeless shelter, you get a raffle ticket for each item you bring.”
