Newly appointed trustee, Edward McMillan, was welcomed to the University of Illinois Board of Trustees Thursday morning.
Trustee Lawrence Eppley formally welcomed McMillan by reading him the responsibilities of the Board.
Thursday’s meeting is McMillan’s first after being appointed to the Board by Gov. Pat Quinn in March to replace former trustee Robert Sperling.
Also recognized were the Board’s three student trustees, as Thursday’s meeting marked the end of their term.
Paul Schmitt, student trustee from the Urbana campus, as well as Craig McFarland and Elias Pittos, from the Springfield and Chicago campuses, respectively, were recognized and formally thanked for their year of commitment to serving on the Board. James Winters, who served for a portion of the year as student trustee from Chicago, before resigning in February of this year, was also recognized for his service.
