The Illinois Student Senate discussed a resolution that would urge all voting Champaign County government entities to ban video gambling machines, Wednesday evening.
The resolution was introduced by student senators Hannah Ehrenberg and David Olsen.
“The social cost of having these machines are detrimental to the community,” Olsen said.
He said that if video gambling were legalized, it could put students in financial harm and encourage self-destructive behavior.
Olsen said he worked with John Kindt, professor of business administration, to write the resolution.
