Today kicks off Sexual Assault Awareness Month with a rally at the ARC.
“Sexual assault is a major issue for college students,” said Jennifer Scott, coordinator of sexual assault education and co-chair of the planning committee for the awareness month.
One in five women experience actual or attempted assault before they graduate, she said.
“College age females are one of the most vulnerable groups for sexual assault,” Scott said.
The month is filled with various events for this cause. One of the more popular, Scott said, is the 31st annual Take Back the Night, a march and rally against sexual violence.
