St. John’s Catholic Newman Center observed Good Friday today with several events beginning with living stations of the cross on the quad at noon, said Dave Hazen, director of communications for Newman Center.
Stations of the cross is a Catholic devotional prayer performed annually on Good Friday, Hazen said. He added close to 300 people participated this morning. A Good Friday litergy service will be held in the Newman Center chapel today at 3 P.M.
“The big thing for Easter is tomorrow night,” Hazen said.
He said it will consist of an Easter procession starting outside of Newman Center where Easter candles will be lit in the courtyard. Hazen said this is the time when new members are initiated into the church.
