University parking introduces new payment option on meters

The University Parking Department is introducing a new payment option for meter parking.

According to a press release, the four parking facilities on campus that will have this three month pilot program include Lot B1, east of the Grainger Library, Lot C7, top level of parking structure at corner of Sixth and John Streets, Lot E3, at the Main Library, and Lot D22, located next to the Alice Campbell Alumni Center and Spurlock museum.

To use the payment program, customers are to create a Verrus account. When they park in a Pay By Phone meter space, costumers should call the Verrus system and provide the location number and number of hours.

The parking rate is the standard $0.75 an hour plus a $.035 convenience fee per transaction. Customers are able to extend the amount of time of their session by calling the system. Text message alerts are also available to remind a customer when their meter time is about to expire.
