Progressing to a new agenda item, SEC member Peter Schiffer said the University’s Center for Advanced Study (CAS) plans to reduce the number of staff they have, but it does not plan to change how the programs are administered.

Programs held by CAS include “a series of speakers from on and off campus, a symposium or conference as well as a faculty and graduate student seminar in the spring semester,” according to their website. estimated that the total cost of the staff and programs is between $400,000 and $500,000.

“To my mind, that is too much” Schiffer said.
