U of I Employees Credit Union changes name

By Daily Illini Staff Report

The University of Illinois Credit Union is changing its name from U of I Employees Credit Union to U of I Community Credit Union.

The name change is effective as of February 1, 2016.

According to E.J. Donaghey, President and CEO of UICCU, the name change is in the hopes of “Eliminating the barrier that the word employees created”.

“We have always been proud to serve both campus and community, and now our name will truly show it,” said Donaghey.

The credit union also plans to reveal an “updated community-based look”

However, one thing that won’t be altered is the leadership. U of I Community Credit Union will continue to be governed by the same local volunteer Board of Directors it always has.
