Construction workers build the foundation of the site for a future Target on the corner of Green and Sixth streets in Champaign. Roads will periodically be closed while construction continues.

Furthering the construction in the space once was occupied by beloved campus bar, Firehaus, Core Spaces and J. H. Findroff & Son Inc. will be closing off Sixth Street between Green and John streets from Wednesday to Friday.

Sixth Street will be closed on these days from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to complete deck pours and deliver stone, according to a Champaign press release. However, the work is weather-dependent and could be delayed if poor weather arises.

Throughout the rest of May and June, these closures will occur intermittently as progress on the construction is made.

“The city appreciates the cooperation of travelers in the area and encourages caution when traveling through and near work zones,” the press release stated.
