The suspect in the Oct. 5 shooting turned himself in to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department in Marion County in Indiana. The suspect was transported back to Champaign County Jail where he is awaiting future court proceedings. 

On Wednesday, Champaign Police released a statement identifying the suspect as 30-year-old Jerry Exum. Initially, a bond on the warrant was set at $500,000. The official charges are attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm. 

According to reports, the shooting took place in the parking lot of a private business in the 1900 block of West Bradley Avenue around 11:43 p.m. Oct. 5. 

Upon arrival at the scene, police found a 25-year-old male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital. 

A 32-year-old victim of the same shooting later arrived at the hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound. However, both victims are expected to survive their injuries.
