Several events postponed, canceled due to coronavirus

As a number of schools around the world cancel or shift to online courses, several events around campus have been canceled or postponed due to the threat of the coronavirus.

State Farm Center

The State Farm Center announced Friday several upcoming events have been canceled or postponed. For canceled events, ticket holders will be refunded. For postponed events, current tickets will still be valid.

  • The Price is Right Live – March 12 – Canceled
  • Justin Moore & Tracy Lawrence – March 28 – Postponed
  • The Color Purple – Part of the WCIA 3 Broadway Series – April 9 – Postponed
  • Nickelodeon’s JoJo Siwa D.R.E.A.M. The Tour – April 19 – Postponed

Pygmalion

Inter-Pygmalion announced Friday that several shows will be canceled or postponed as well. Refunds for those shows will be processed as soon as possible.

  • RATBOYS w/ Take Care + Gnarly Beth at Rose Bowl Tavern – March 14
  • MAL BLUM w/ Sweet Melk + Warm Darn at Rose Bowl Tavern – April 3
  • C.W. STONEKING w/ Angie Heaton at Rose Bowl Tavern – April 4:
  • POSTURE & THE GRIZZLY w/ LLYN + Owens Funeral at 25 O’Clock Brewing Company Friday – April 17

The Canopy Club

The Canopy Club, located at 708 S. Goodwin Ave., also announced Friday it will be closed from Saturday until May 1.

“One of the hardest things about this experience is that it is rapidly evolving, and we are in a constantly reactive posture. It’s hard on everyone,” The Canopy Club wrote in a Facebook statement.” And just as virus germs can be contagious, so can fear. In this moment, we are taking a proactive stance to keep all of you and our patrons healthy, to reduce both germs and fear.”

Krannert Center for the Performing Arts

All performances at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, 500 S. Goodwin Ave., will be canceled for the remainder of the semester. 

Krannert will be issuing refunds for tickets, and current ticket holders do not have to take action to get the refund. Ticket holders also have the option of donating the funds to Illinois Theatre, Lyric Theatre @ Illinois, Dance at Illinois, School of Music, Sinfonia da Camera and Champaign-Urbana Symphony.

Tours of Krannert Center, public events and Krannert Uncorked are canceled for the remainder of the semester.

The plan for Stage 5 Bar is still unknown as discussions are still underway. The ticket office, Intermezzo Cafe, Promenade Showcase and the gift shop will maintain regular business hours.

March Madness

On Friday, the NCAA announced the March Madness tournament is canceled.

The remaining winter and spring NCAA championships are canceled as well.
