University Housing provides alternate care facilities for Carle

By Amrita Bhattacharyya, Staff Writer

The University has entered an agreement with the Carle Health System to provide alternate care facilities at the Activities and Recreation Center, Bousfield Hall and Wassaja Hall in preparation for a predicted spike in COVID-19 cases.

Bousfield Hall will be used to house medical personnel and Wassaja Hall will be used for any additional needs.

“Should these campus facilities be utilized, strict care and security protocols will be followed to ensure the safety of the campus and local community,” University Housing said in a Massmail.

The University will only be used for alternate care facilities should Carle exceed capacity for patient needs.

Last week, residents of Bousfield and Wassaja were asked to move out their belongings by Friday. Students who could not pack their belongings prior to the stay-at-home order were given the option of hiring Storage Squad, a company which would move their items to a storage space for the summer.
