Champaign Police Department launches marketing campaign to recruit new officers

The Champaign Police Department launched a marketing campaign earlier today with the goal of recruiting more police officers.

The campaign was produced by Champaign Police staff along with the City Manager’s Office, Human Resources and All Star Talent, Inc.

A press release from the CPD said that the campaign would aim to “attract talented individuals who are committed to public service and making a positive impact in our community.”

The new webpage for the campaign will use “targeted online advertising” to reach candidates for open positions. Officers from the CPD are displayed on the webpage in order to showcase positive aspects of working for the department.

The CPD said that “attracting top talent is essential,” as the CPD wishes to “maintain its high standards of public safety and community service.”

The department said that they plan to broaden their recruitment efforts even further in order to reach those who may not have initially considered a career as an officer. They additionally said that a priority was to “recruit a diverse group of candidates who reflect the community they serve.”

Chief of Police Timothy Tyler was quoted in the press release saying that “In developing these materials, our officers opened up about what our department has inspired in them, and we invite any interested candidates to see what a career with the Champaign Police Department has to offer.”
