At 3:19 a.m. on Monday, the Urbana Police Department responded to a shooting call on the 2000 block of Vawter. Two men were injured in the incident, but neither injury was life-threatening.
According to the press release, the shooting occurred as a result of an argument. The first man, whose name was undisclosed, was shot in the stomach. The second man, whom the release named as Anthony Wilkins of Urbana, was shot in the arm.
Police found Wilkins to have possession of cocaine and identified him as one of the shooters in the incident. According to the release, after receiving treatment, “he was arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.”
Wilkins was then transferred to Champaign County Satellite Jail and is awaiting further court proceedings.
