IlliniFest leads to street closures, offers activities for prospective students

Street closures will occur in Urbana this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during IlliniFest, an event hosted by Student Success, Inclusion & Belonging.

According to the press release from the Urbana Public Works Department, the closures will be between South Mathews and South Goodwin avenues. Some traffic will be redirected into one eastbound lane on West Oregon Street.

IlliniFest is a once-a-year event for prospective students and their families to come and explore the campus for the day.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. there are tours, presentations, panels, resource fairs and block parties put on by the units of Student Success, Inclusion & Belonging. Some of these units include La Casa Cultural Latina, the Career Center and the Women’s Resource Center.

The Illinois app shows a wide array of activities planned. In addition to college tours and residence hall open houses, there will be presentations on receiving financial aid.
