Thanksgiving weekend shooting under investigation in Champaign

On Sunday at 8:54 p.m., Champaign police were dispatched to the 500 block of North Edwin Street for a report of a shooting with injuries.

According to a release from the Champaign Police Department, there was one victim, a 42-year-old male from Champaign, who sustained a non-life-threatening graze wound to the head. He was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition.

The release stated the victim was in a vehicle in his driveway when he was approached by three unknown male subjects. One “produced and discharged a firearm, resulting in injury to the victim.”

The three men then pulled the victim from his vehicle, an SUV, and used the vehicle to flee the scene.

There is currently an ongoing investigation, and no arrests have been made at this time.
