The Champaign City Council held its weekly meeting on August 13, focusing on the discussion of a number of resolutions. The meeting began with public input.
The first resolution would designate a portion of Taylor Street as Honorary Mark Rubel Way and a portion of Bradley Avenue as Honorary Charles Nash Sr. Way. The families of both individuals spoke more on the honorary street names at a previous Champaign City Council meeting.
The second resolution approved the purchase of wireless networking equipment, network security software, and implementation services. The purpose is to authorize the City Manager to enter an agreement with Qubit Networks LLC for wireless infrastructure and network security software.
The third resolution approved an agreement for the renewal of a small municipal and county government enterprise agreement. The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City Manager to enter into a three year license agreement with Environmental Systems Research Inc. in an amount not to exceed $58,500 annually.
This amount is for an unlimited software license for the use of ArcGIS software. The city makes extensive use of the software for purposes such as creating, maintaining and analyzing geographic data, empowering interactive web mapping applications for both the city staff and the general public.

This agreement would save the city money by eliminating the need to purchase and maintain additional licenses over a three year period.
The final resolution would accept a bid and authorize the City manager to execute an agreement for the 2024 Pavement Marking Project.
All of the resolutions discussed in this meeting were passed. The meeting concluded with public participation followed by City Council and City Manager comments.
